Water softening systems remove calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions, which cause hardness in water, by exchanging them with sodium (Na⁺¹) ions using cationic resin.After this process, the resin reaches saturation and must undergo regeneration with saline water, controlled by time or flow rate.Softening systems are available in two types: twin-tank and single-tank. Twin-tank systems ensure 24-hour soft water production, as one tank continues softening while the other undergoes backwashing.
